Really Useful Travel Gifts > which is better - Lonely Planet or the Rough Guide?
Hi... I want to buy my brother a travel guide to South America. He's going on a 6 month trip there soon. As a gift... I want to buy him either the Rough Guide or Lonely Planet. Which one do you think is best?

I've always used the Rough Guide because I find it more user friendly. Also think about getting him some books written by South American writers such as Jorge Luis Borges or Paulo Coelho. Novels often give a sense of a place that travel guides can''
