Gift Ideas for High Maintenance Men > buying a gift for my dad

Hi, my Dad's turning 60 next week and I can't work out what to get him. I don't know him really well (my parents divorced when I was young and Dad moved to another state). I know he likes Aussie Rules, he has a boat and is an Engineer.

Any ideas? I don't want to get him anything too personal... and not something too impersonal. I have a budget of about $50-60.
I haven't got a clue what a man of that age would like!!

that's a hard one. Maybe something like a cinema gift voucher or a gift voucher from Myer or David Jones. that way he can choose what he wants... and it's also a thoughtful gift

yes I think a gift voucher is a good idea. or if you don't want to give a gift that impersonal, buy him a glossy coffee table book about boats. I think men that age like that sort of gift... and it's something he's unlikely to buy himself

how about a gift voucher for an experience like red balloon days. Then he can choose what he wants.

If he likes beer - then how about a gift basket filled with 20-30 small bottles of beer. There will definitely be a beer in there he hasn't tried. I did that for my dad's 50th birthday gift. He LOVED it.
